I have to laugh at and have a BIG pet peeve with those people who say this DVD isn't "challenging" or "hard" enough for them and that it's "too basic", etc.
People, people, people.......it specificially states under the title of the DVD......."a simplied approach". I have both You Can Do Abs & You Can Do Pilates so I know for sure it says that on the front cover just under the titles.
Why do you self proclaimed critics continually come on here giving such harsh and sarcastic opinions/reviews acting like you're sooooo disappointed in these types of workout videos/DVD's because it's not hard enough or challenging enough for you to do? It's like you're trying to compare apples to oranges when putting trainers like Leslie Sansone up against trainers like Billy Blanks and The Firm. Geezie Pete!!!
If you know anything at all about Leslie Sansone's training, you should realize by now that she doesn't have drill sergeant tactics to whip you into Olympic athlete shape in two days or less in "any" of her tapes/DVD's, whether it's walking, pilates, abs or yoga......ever. However, Leslie IS challenging enough for those people who don't strive to be like or look like superstar trainers with 6 packs abs running around in midrif tops all the time to show them off like say Jillian Michaels of The Biggest Loser (whom I do admire by the way and am not critizing - if you got it flaunt it).
Leslie Sansone is a trainer who is sensible, fun, and tries to be realistic enough to help people improve themselves and get healthier who maybe haven't exercised in awhile or who just need that push to get back into a regular routine again, or who really are just beginners and need some TLC coaching to help them get on the right track without hurting themselves.
So don't be so critical and harsh on the more down to earth trainers like Leslie Sansone. If you're really all that great of an athlete, then don't buy these kinds of tapes, go criticize the trainers who really do have more challenging and harder reputations!

Leslie Sansone - Walk Away the Pounds for Abs - 3 Miles (2008) Review

Leslie Sansone - Walk Away the Pounds for Abs - 3 Miles (2008)

This was my first-ever Leslie Sansone video, and I was surprised by how tough it was, especially given that I already exercise regularly and have even started a running program in the past month. Leslie uses four basic moves--march, side step, front kick, and knee lift--but varies the speed and execution of each movement to change the intensity. In addition, this workout uses Leslie's special weight belt for upper body toning work; I don't own the belt, so I substituted light (3 lb.) hand weights throughout the workout.
The workout begins with Leslie introducing the four basic moves, and in the warm-up phase, she gradually picks up the pace until you are moving along at a fairly good clip. At this point (about 10 minutes into the workout), she introduces use of the belt or weights for some basic upper body exercises, including overhead press and flies. For the middle part of the workout, or Mile 2, the weights are not used, as the pace increases considerably. Although the movements stayed the same, I sometimes found it a bit difficult to keep up with Leslie's quick movements. However, Leslie is extremely encouraging, frequently saying that it's okay to go at your own pace and not to follow her form exactly. For the first half of the last mile, the belt or weights are again used, repeating many of the previous exercises. The pace then slows down a bit to start bringing your heart rate back to normal, and finally, the last 2 minutes of the workout consists of cool-down stretches for a total of 44 minutes.
The only problem I had with this workout is the title, as I think it would have more appropriately been named WATP for Upper Body rather than Abs. Leslie does provide frequent reminders to concentrate on your abs and some of the moves (especially the knee lifts) do work the abdominal area, but the toning segments were more focused on the upper body in general. Overall, however, I found this to be an excellent cardio workout, and although the moves are repetitive, the time really does fly by. It is probably most appropriate for intermediate exercisers, but experienced beginners could manage by moving at a slower pace and skipping the weights.

Walk Away the Pounds for Abs (2002) Review

Walk Away the Pounds for Abs (2002)

If you enjoyed Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds workouts, here is a new variation for you.
The kit includes a Walk Away Belt, and a DVD. The DVD has three workouts on it:
- 1 mile
- 2 mile
- 3 mile
Each of the workouts includes the same basic steps that were used in the Walk Away The Pounds set:
- kick backs
- knee lifts
- kicks
- side steps
- and of course, walking
There are no new steps introduced. If you have done the Walk Away workouts, you can do these workouts. They are not much different. The people walking with Leslie are mostly new. For example, in the 3-mile walk, you'll see Randy (who was in the old workouts). The music is new, and updated for today. This is not a recycled, older product like the Miracle Mile and 4-Mile Walk.
The 3-mile workout uses the belt only minimally. For an "ab" workout, I was shocked not to have crunches and sit-ups. Leslie uses the belt to work the upper body, but does not explain what this belt does for your abs, or how to use the belt. How is it supposed to be worn? Sitting on your hips or on your waist? How can the same upper body moves we used in the old workouts work the abs?
The 3-mile walk is a good variation on the Walk Away The Pounds 3-mile walk. If you're bored with the old set, give this one a try. It is not necessary to use the belt, you can always go without it.
